Student Senate meeting was held at MAKÜ

At Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Student Senate, many topics were discussed from education-training to transportation, from Ünifest announcements to foreign students; it was decided to present the decisions to the Rectorate.

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Student Senate was held with broad participation. In the meeting where evaluations were made on many topics from educational processes to campus life, student services to transportation issues, the demands and suggestions of the students were discussed.

 

Student Senate President Merve Öztürer, who chaired the meeting, shared the decisions made in line with the agenda items with the participants. During the discussions, the proposal to establish "Unit Student Quality Commissions" was brought to the agenda. Additionally, the issue of providing information about the Ünifest organization and announcing the event in all units was addressed.

 

In the meeting, based on the feedback from the students, the demands of transportation and foreign students were also discussed and a consensus was reached. It was decided to submit the decisions to the Rectorate to convey them to the relevant units and make the necessary arrangements.

 

The meeting was attended by MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner and Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen, Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Alparslan, Education-Teaching Development Coordinator and Director of the Institute of Educational Sciences Prof. Dr. Perihan Ünivar, Deputy Secretary General Mesut Türkmen, Head of Student Affairs Department Hüseyin Kahraman, and Student Senate members.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized that they value the understanding of managing the university together with students, stating that they aim to make decisions with common sense, especially on issues concerning students. Rector Dalgar, who stated that a healthy feedback mechanism forms the basis of a strong university culture, expressed that the contributions of students are guiding for them. He noted that they want to listen to the individual opinions and suggestions of students in addition to the official agenda items.

 

Senate President Merve Öztürer, in her speech, thanked the university administration for their sensitivity and solution-oriented approach towards students. Öztürer stated that student representatives conveyed their demands clearly and precisely, and expressed that they are careful to shape decision processes within the framework of common sense.

 

It was stated that the Student Senate will continue its efforts to ensure more active participation of students in educational processes, contribute to quality and accreditation studies, and establish a strong communication ground with the university administration.
